Privacy Policy

PFAPA Care on three phones: home, episode calendar and temperature recording.

This Privacy Policy explains how PFAPA Care ("PFAPA Care", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our mobile application and related services (the "Service").

PFAPA Care is a tracking and organizational tool for recording fever-related information. It does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment and does not replace professional medical advice.

Website analytics (Google Analytics 4)

The pfapacare.com website provides information and links to the App Store, Google Play and PayPal for voluntary support. It uses Google's Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure traffic, page views, clicks to the stores and clicks on the PayPal support button. This measurement applies only to the website, not to activity inside the mobile application. Clicks do not confirm downloads, installations or contributions. We do not send amounts or PayPal payment data to GA4.

GA4 only loads if you accept optional analytics. It uses cookies and technical identifiers to measure users and sessions, device type, country or approximate location, and traffic sources. Google processes this browsing data. The integration limits addresses to public routes, excludes queries and fragments, and disables Google Signals and advertising personalization. Cookies are configured for 180 days without automatic renewal. You can reject analytics or withdraw consent using Privacy preferences; withdrawal reloads the page to stop measurement and removes GA4 cookies accessible to this site. This does not erase data already sent to Google.

The website does not request medical records. We do not send names, email addresses, children's information, symptoms, temperatures, episodes or app records to GA4. Processing of information entered by users in the mobile application is described separately in the following sections of this policy.

Read Google's privacy policy

1. Who the Service is for

PFAPA Care is intended for parents, guardians, and caregivers who want to organize health-related records for their children and share them with trusted members of a private family group.

The app is intended for adults. Recording a minor’s data requires authorization from their legal representative and respect for their best interests and rights. Being a caregiver or receiving a family code does not by itself make someone a legal representative.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information to provide the Service:

2.1 Account information

  • Email address (used for authentication and account management)
  • User identifier (a unique ID associated with your account)

2.2 Child profile information (entered by you)

  • Profile name or alias: a real name is not required
  • Date of birth

2.3 Health-related records (entered by you)

  • Temperature measurements
  • Fever/episode records (for example, start/end dates, notes, or symptoms if you choose to add them)

2.4 Device and usage information (limited)

Depending on your configuration, we may collect limited technical information for reliability and security, such as:

  • App version, device model, operating system version
  • Crash logs and diagnostics (if enabled)

Health records are sensitive personal data when related to an identified or identifiable person. An alias does not make records anonymous while they remain linked to an account or family group.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide and operate the Service (create accounts, store and display records)
  • Enable family group features (viewing and recording shared information within your group)
  • Improve app reliability and performance (for example, crash diagnostics if enabled)
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues
  • Respond to support requests and send notifications about new episodes and temperature records for family profiles, according to notification preferences and permissions

4. Family groups and information sharing

PFAPA Care allows users to create or join a private family group using a code. When you join a family group:

  • Information recorded within that family group may be visible to all members of the same family group.
  • Members of the family group may add or edit records depending on the app permissions model.

Important: only share a family code with people you trust. You are responsible for the people you invite into your family group.

We do not sell your information. We do not share your information with third-party advertisers.

5. Where data is stored and processed

PFAPA Care uses cloud infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) (for example, AWS Amplify and related services) to store and process data. Data is transmitted using secure connections (HTTPS/TLS).

PDF reports

PDF reports are generated locally on the device from the selected records. This feature does not send the generated PDF to PFAPA Care servers or retain copies or backups of the file on them. This is separate from the storage of app records described in this policy.

If you choose to save or share a report, bear in mind that it may contain personal and health data. Review its contents and recipients before sharing. Copies saved or shared outside PFAPA Care are subject to the terms and settings of the devices, services, or recipients you choose.

6. Authorization and sensitive data

In Colombia, processing is subject to Law 1581 of 2012 and its regulations. Unless a legal exception applies, prior, express and informed authorization is required; sensitive data requires explicit authorization. Accepting the terms or enabling notifications does not replace this authorization.

  • Health information is sensitive. You are not required to answer questions about sensitive data; do not record information you do not wish to share for the purposes described.
  • Minors’ data requires authorization from their legal representative, respect for their best interests and protection of their rights. The minor must be heard and their views considered according to maturity, autonomy and understanding.
  • Sharing records with family members must be covered by the relevant authorization. A contract or legitimate interest does not replace authorization required under Colombian law.

7. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.

You can delete your account at any time directly from the app settings. For requests about associated data, shared family records or information sent to support, email [email protected]. If a legal obligation requires retaining information, we will explain the applicable reason. Account deletion is separate from disabling notifications or withdrawing website analytics consent.

Deleting your account does not delete copies of PDF reports you have saved or shared outside PFAPA Care. Those copies must be managed or deleted on the relevant device or service, or through a request to their recipients, as appropriate.

8. Your choices and rights

In Colombia you may exercise the following rights free of charge, subject to the law:

  • Know, access, update and correct your data; request proof of authorization and information about how your data has been used.
  • Request erasure and withdrawal of authorization where applicable, and complain to the Colombian Superintendence of Industry and Commerce after completing the inquiry or complaint procedure with the controller.
  • Decline to answer questions about sensitive data or minors’ data.

Send inquiries or complaints to [email protected], stating your request and account email. If acting as a representative, explain that capacity; we may request the minimum information needed to securely verify your authority. Personal data inquiries and complaints are handled within the time limits established by applicable law. Do not send passwords or unnecessary medical information.

9. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, but we work to protect data in transit and at rest and to limit access to authorized users.

10. Third-party services

The Service may use third-party services for infrastructure and diagnostics (for example, AWS and optional crash reporting). These providers process data on our behalf to support the Service.

We do not allow third-party advertisers to collect health data through PFAPA Care.

11. International transfers

Your data may be processed on servers located in different countries (including where AWS regions are located). We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards where required by law.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This version takes effect on the date shown. We will communicate material changes through the website or app. If processing purposes change in a way that requires new authorization, we will request it before that processing; publishing revised text does not obtain authorization.

13. Contact

For privacy inquiries or complaints, including family profile data, email [email protected]. You can also use the app support channel:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Website: pfapacare.com

[email protected]

14. Medical disclaimer

PFAPA Care is an organizational tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Always seek guidance from qualified healthcare professionals for medical decisions.

15. Support contact

When you contact support, we process your message and the information you include to respond to your request. If you email us, we also receive your sender address. Avoid including passwords, medical histories or unnecessary health information. You must have the appropriate authorization to include sensitive data or other people’s information. PFAPA Care is an independent, free project. General support is provided subject to availability, without continuous coverage or a guaranteed response time. This does not limit the rights or statutory deadlines applicable to personal data requests. Support does not provide medical care or handle emergencies.

16. Family profile notifications

Notifications relate to new episodes and temperature records for family profiles. You can disable notification permission in device settings; this does not delete your account or family records. Review lock screen preview settings to reduce information exposure. Permission to display notifications does not itself authorize processing health data.

17. Language, local storage and external links

The website language is determined by the URL and can be changed using the language selector. It stores your analytics choice under pfapacare.analytics-consent.v1 for up to 180 days; if storage is unavailable, the choice applies to the current page. No external translation service is used for these texts. Store, Instagram, Facebook and PayPal links lead to services with their own policies.
